Brent rose for a fourth month in a row as attacks on tankers near Hormuz and claimed strikes on Saudi oil sites kept a war premium in oil. Most other markets fell. Strong US growth and a Fed that sounds ready to hike in December hit precious metals, a big US harvest cut corn and wheat by about 11 percent, and lithium had the worst month on the board. US steel rose to its highest since May 2022 behind its 50 percent tariff, and sugar and cocoa also ended October higher.
Gold fell 2.3 percent on the week to a one-year low of USD 3,885.7, and silver dropped below USD 50 for the first time since November 2025. The December Brent contract expired on Friday at USD 117.64. The full edition covers each market, with the October review and the week ahead: the US midterms on Tuesday and payrolls on Friday.
